UA-WiSE presents the 6th Annual Black Tie Affair:
Looking Through the Glass Ceiling
The Black Tie Affair is a formal event that features a keynote speech, live jazz band, photo booth, full buffet dinner, silent auction, door prizes, and networking opportunities. Undergraduate students, graduate students, and professionals are invited to attend!
This year, our keynote speaker will be Dr. Carla Prado! She is an associate professor and chair of Campus Alberta Innovates Program (CAIP) in Nutrition, Food and Health. Also, she has recently been featured in Canada’s Top 40 Under 40: 2019!

Time: Doors at 6:00 PM → We encourage you to come early and find seats. This will also give you a better opportunity to socialize and network. Event runs from 6:40-11:00 PM, official programming ends at 9:00 PM.

Introducing our Keynote Speaker:
Dr. Carla Prado, PhD, RD
Dr. Prado received her BSc from the Federal University of Goiás and Postgraduate Degree from Brazil. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Alberta and has completed further training at the Cross Cancer Institute (Canada), the National Institutes of Health (USA) and Newcastle University (UK).
As our keynote speaker, Dr. Prado will be talking about the challenges of overcoming the ‘ideal’ image of a person in STEM in an interview-style speech. There will be an opportunity to ask her questions at the end.
