Program Overview

UA-WiSE (University of Alberta Women in Science and Engineering) and WISER (Women in Science Engineering and Research) and are launching the second year of their mentorship program. The aim of our mentorship program is to provide undergraduate students the opportunity to connect with early career professionals, graduate students, or those well established in their careers.

Each group consists of a mentor who is well established in their field, a graduate student or early career professional mentee, and an undergraduate student mentee. Trio matching will be done by UA-WiSE and WISER based on future goals and areas of expertise.

The program will run from September 2016 until April 2017, and will consist of three fun and informative events over the duration of the program:

  • September 29, 2016: Launch Event to introduce the trios with a Guest Speaker

  • February 2, 2017: Professional Panel Discussion where participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and dialogue with experienced professionals in academia, industry and government

  • April 27, 2017: Final Event with a professional development workshop (topic based upon participant feedback)

All events will be held in the evening and potential childcare is available. After each event, there will be a short online survey that will take no more than five minutes to complete.
